Brenen Wilson

Congratulations to our first Yes We Can college grad! In December 2019, Brenen Wilson received his BA in General Studies with an emphasis on Social Work and Psychology from Indiana State University. He was the first in his family to receive his college degree. “If it wasn’t for the Outreach College Opportunity Program support, and the Yes We can Scholarship, I would not be here today.” The road to his success was a challenging one. As a boy, Brenen and his family were financially stable and lived in a nice home. But, during his freshman year of high school, his father lost his job and the family had to downsize and eventually relocate to a small apartment. Life as he had known it was never going to be the same.

Aldo Nolasco

As a three-year-old, Aldo came to the United States from Columbia with his parents.  By the time he was five, his parents had settled into the Carol Stream community and were both working to provide for their family.  Aldo’s parents discovered the Outreach Community Center in Carol Stream (OCC) as they needed affordable childcare for Aldo.  Through elementary school and middle school, he attended the after school and summer school programs at OCC.  Aldo described those years as both filled with hard work and new experiences as he did homework every day, participated in various life skills activities and attended “God Time” regularly.

Pancreatic cancer accounts for about 3% of all cancers in the US and about 7% of all cancer deaths. Pancreatic cancer is the eighth most commonly diagnosed cancer in women and the 11th most commonly diagnosed in men in the U.S.  By making a donation today, you will help us honor Clare Nelson's legacy and mission.
